Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 9, 2026

Findable is made by Michael Alves and Peter Chi ("Findable", "we", "us"). This policy explains what the Findable app collects, why, who else handles it, and what you can do about it.

The short version

Your home

Your home map, items, item photos and move history are stored on your device and synced through Apple's iCloud to your private iCloud account, so they can follow you to a new phone. They are not sent to our servers. Apple's privacy policy covers iCloud.

Backup files you export from Settings are yours. They stay wherever you save them.

What we collect

Account. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an account ID and your email address (or Apple's private relay address), and your name if you choose to share it. Google also shares your profile picture, which we use as yours until you change it. If you sign up with an email address instead, we keep that address and a securely hashed version of your password, never the password itself.

Profile. The name, username, bio, photo and accent you set, and the reason you picked during setup.

What you share. Posts, photos, captions, product tags and links, comments, likes, saves, follows, blocks and reports. Posts, comments and profiles are visible to other Findable users. Photos in posts, comments and profiles are stored at web addresses that anyone with the link can open, so only share pictures you're comfortable being seen.

Notifications. If you turn notifications on, a push token for your device and your time zone, so we can deliver them and keep them quiet at night.

Subscriptions. If you subscribe to Findable Pro, the App Store transaction ID and the state of your subscription. Apple handles payment; we never see your card.

Usage counts. How many smart-feature requests you made each day and roughly what they cost to run, so free and Pro limits work. Not what you asked or showed.

We don't use analytics or advertising tools, and we don't collect your location or contacts.

Smart features

When you use a smart feature, the app sends what that request needs to our server, which passes it to Google's Gemini API and sends the answer back to you:

What lives somewhere else in your home is worked out on your device, without sending anything. The plan for organizing a spot and your before and after photos are kept with your home, on your device and in your iCloud, and leave it only if you share them.

We don't store these photos or requests. We only count them. Google processes them under its paid Gemini API terms, which don't let it use them to improve its products.

Keeping the community safe

Before posts, comments and profile changes are shown to others, their text and photos are checked automatically, partly using OpenAI's moderation service, which processes them under its API terms. We keep the result of that check with the post. Content that is held or reported may be reviewed by us.

Content that appears to involve the sexual exploitation of a child is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as the law requires.

Who else handles your data

Only the services that run Findable for us, and only for that purpose:

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or when it is needed to protect someone from serious harm. If Findable is ever run by a company we set up or is taken over by someone else, your information moves with it and stays covered by this policy. We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and what you share until you delete them. When you delete a post, comment or your account, it is removed from Findable straight away and from our server backups within 30 days. A device's push token is deleted when you sign out on it or it stops accepting notifications.

Records about reports and removed content may be kept longer when we need them to keep people safe or to meet a legal obligation.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, including Canada, Taiwan and California, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move your data, to object to or limit how it is used, to withdraw your consent, and to complain to the privacy regulator where you live. We'll answer requests within 30 days and won't treat you differently for making one.

Giving us information is your choice, but some features need it: for example, you can't post without an account, and a scan can't work without its photo.

Peter Chi is responsible for protecting personal information at Findable and can be reached at the address below.

Findable doesn't track you across other apps or websites, so there is nothing for it to change when your browser or device sends a "Do Not Track" signal.

Where EU or UK law applies, we use your data to provide the app you asked for, for our legitimate interest in keeping Findable safe and working, with your consent for notifications, and to meet legal obligations.

Children

Findable is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Where data is processed

Your account and everything you share are stored by Supabase in Canada. Smart-feature requests and content checks are handled by Google and OpenAI, mainly in the United States. So wherever you live, some of your information is processed in another country, where the privacy laws may differ from yours. Our providers protect it under their data protection terms.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. On our servers, access rules ensure people can only read and change what they're allowed to. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll tell you in the app first.
